Foster

Supporting, inspiring and helping to recruit Christian foster carers in Derby and Nottinghamshire.

There are over 1500 looked-after children across Derby City and Nottinghamshire.

Locally and nationally there is a huge shortage of foster carers who can provide loving family homes for these children.

100 Homes works with Derby City and Nottinghamshire County Council by working alongside churches to promote fostering, refer potential foster carers and support those foster carers through the process and once they are approved.

Fostering information evenings

We hold regular information evenings for people who want to find out more about fostering.

Fostering Sunday

Every year in May we hold Fostering Sunday, where we encourage churches across the area to dedicate part or all of their Sunday Service to think about fostering.

Our theme for 2026 is SHALOM: BRINGING WHOLENESS

Hold Your Fostering Sunday This May

We believe God wants to bring Shalom to our churches and our communities. Shalom means peace, wholeness, completeness: it encompasses physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being.

Responding to the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities is part of Gods plan to bring Shalom to us and our world and we do this knowing we are flawed but that we reply on God’s strength not our own.

Just as the art of Kintsugi uses gold to repair brokenness and bring beauty as well as wholeness, we know God wants to bring beauty to our care system and the lives of children and young people.

God is a father to the fatherless and He sets the lonely in families

— Psalm 68:5-6
